PETERSBURG, AK A private company has given up federal permits to study the potential for tidal power generation at two sites in Southeast Alaska. Washington D.C. based Alaska Tidal Energy last month surrendered its Federal Energy Regulatory Commission preliminary permits for tidal power in the Wrangell Narrows near Petersburg and Icy Passage near Gustavus.
