PETERSBURG-AK Canadian quintet Chic Gamine plays Petersburg this weekend. The Winnipeg and Montreal-based singers don’t fit neatly into one particular genre. They’re influenced by a variety of styles including soul, 60’s pop, rhythm and blues, French vocalists and Brazilian dance. Their sound is unique with crisp vocals and harmonies at the forefront backed by percussion and, more recently, a keyboard bass which they call a “fake” bass. Their award winning band played Talkeetna earlier this week. Matt Lichtenstein spoke by phone with three of the members – Andrina Turenne, Ariane jean and Alexa Dirks.
