PETERSBURG, AK Private company Cascade Creek’s planned power plant at Cascade Creek in Thomas Bay north of Petersburg would require a new transmission line to get electricity from the plant to the electrical grid in Petersburg. A company representative last week said there’s been a change in plans for crossing Mitkof Island with that new power line. Cascade Creek’s project manager Chris Spens says the line will not be located on airport land owned by the Alaska Department of Transportation but will instead be moved south. Joe Viechnicki spoke with Spens about the latest plans.
