Four days of music, dancing, food and local culture kick-off Thursday as the 2012 Little Norway festival gets underway in Petersburg. It’s the 54th year of the festival which celebrates local Norwegian heritage and commemorates Norway’s constitution day, May 17th.
This year’s Mayfest includes new events as well as traditional offerings like the parade, the pageant and, of course, roving bands of Vikings and Valkyries, clad in armor and animal skins.
Matt Lichtenstein asked Festival Committee Co-Chairs Katie Eddy and Holli Flint for a preview of the events for Thursday, the first day of Mayfest:
A detailed schedule of all the Little Norway events can be found at petersburg.org or look for the printed version in the Petersburg Pilot and around town Thursday. Also, you can tune in to KFSK Thursday at noon, when we’ll talk about Fridays events.
