Feel like running a marathon this weekend? Two local women have decided to run 26 miles on Mitkof Highway south of Petersburg Saturday morning and are welcoming others to run part, or all, of the course with them.
Tausha Sperl and Garnett Coonrad were training to run the Douglas Island marathon near Juneau this summer. They decided they couldn’t afford to travel to that race with large families in tow and instead agreed several weeks ago to run the marathon distance here. Joe Viechnicki spoke with the two and started out asking Coonrad how they got into training for a marathon.
