The fifth annual Tongass Rainforest Festival gets underway Thursday. A variety of groups sponsor the festival which celebrates and explores the ecosystem, history, culture, and bounty of southeast Alaska. There are talks, walks, arts, crafts, film and food events running through Sunday and beyond. Matt Lichtenstein got a preview of Thursday and Friday’s events from organizer Sunny Rice:
