Arts and crafts vendors will fill the community gym this weekend for the annual Oktoberfest. The event runs all day Saturday. Many organizations use it as a fund raising opportunity. One vendor this year plans to use all proceeds to bring clean drinking water to a village in Thailand.
The clean water project is actually a Petersburg family affair. There is Lizzie and Harold Thompson and their 8 year old daughter Kate, as well as Harold’s cousin Dick Eide and his wife, Wear. Clara Medalen, who is a deck hand for the Thompson’s tender boat, is also helping.
