Call this the rainiest January on record in Petersburg. That’s according to National Weather Service data dating back to the 1940s.
A little over a quarter inch of rain fell on Thursday, January 29 setting a new monthly record with a total of 21.03 inches. The old record of20.89 inches was set 30 years ago, in 1985.
Not only was it a wet month, it was warm as well. Petersburg set new daily temperature records of 49 degrees on January 24th and 25th. And, the overnight lows were the warmest on record for nine different days.
