The Petersburg High School girls basketball team won their second game in two days at the Region Five tournament in Ketchikan and have a day off before playing for the championship on Friday.
The Lady Vikings beat the Mt. Edgecumbe Lady Braves 42-28 Wednesday evening will play again on Friday at 11:30 against Sitka. The Lady Wolves beat Mt. Edgecumbe 43-41 early Thursday. The Lady Vikings haven’t lost yet in the tournament. If they win on Friday they take the regional title. If they lose they’ll play Sitka again on Saturday for the crown.
Meanwhile, the Vikings lost their second game of the tournament, 55-53 in overtime to the Sitka Wolves Thursdaymorning. Petersburg tied the game up 51-51 in the final minute but was unable to win in the extra period. That ends the season for the Vikings. Sitka gets a rematch against Mt. Edgecumbe for the boys title tomorrow afternoon.
