The Petersburg Arts Council is bringing the April Verch Band to town for one performance Thursday. March 19. The band is a trio featuring fiddle, guitar, bass and banjo.

Verch plays fiddle, sings and step dances, something she’s been doing since the age of three. She started playing fiddle at six years old and recorded her first album at 13. Her latest release due out next month is her tenth album and it’s called “The Newpart.” She’s been touring for the past 15 years and is making two stops in Alaska this month, here in Petersburg and in Sitka as well. Joe Viechnicki spoke with Verch by phone about her music.
The April Verch Band performs at the Wright Auditorium tonight at 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale at Lees Clothing and at the door.
