Petersburg High School’s track teams opened up the season last weekend with their first ever visit to the Big C Relays in Anchorage last weekend.
The event is put on by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and brings more than one thousand track and field competitors from around Alaska and out of state for two days of competition at an indoor facility.
10 students from PHS made the trip, and set personal records or their own best times in various events, including Izabelle Ith who took second in the pentathlon. Coach Brad Taylor says more than 32 kids who have come out for the team this year. Joe Viechnicki spoke with Taylor about the first meet of the season.
Next up for the teams is a meet April 23 in Ketchikan.
