Two Spanish language classes at Petersburg High School enjoyed a celebration of Día de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead Wednesday, complete with a piñata and dance lessons. The holiday is celebrated in Mexico and other central and South American countries as a way to remember loved ones who have died and poke a little fun at death itself.

The PHS classes taught by Rowan Beraza also created colorful papier-mâché masks as students learned about the holiday. Joe Viechnicki stopped by the high school Wednesday afternoon and caught up with a few students.
