Petersburg and Wrangell high school volleyball teams play in the semi-finals of the state 2A championship at Dimond High School in Anchorage Friday evening.

The Vikings beat the Kenny Lake Hawks in three games Thursday night, 25-6, 25-13 and 25-17. Petersburg opened up the tournament with a three game win over the Unalaska Raiders.

Wrangell had a five game win over Su Valley Thursday night. The Rams won the first and third games 25-21 and 25-15 but the Wolves won the second, fourth and deciding fifth game 27-25, 25-22 and 15-8. Wrangell started their tournament with a 3-1 win over the King Cove Rookies earlier Thursday.

The Vikings and Wolves play at 6:15 Friday evening. The winner advances to the championship match Saturday night. It’s a double-elimination tournament so the loser can battle back into the championship.
