Petersburg School board will be meeting Tuesday night to consider several staff positions for the next school year.
They’re expected to approve the hire of a new fourth grade teacher for the grade school. Heidi Cabral has been chosen for that position.
The school board will be asked to approve administrative contracts for the district’s two principals. That will be Heather Conn at the grade school, taking over for Teri Toland, who is retiring. And Rick Dormer will return to the middle and high school.
They’ll also consider contracts for some exempt employees.
They’ll hear about a few resignations, including the technology support assistant, Caleb Caulum.
There are also a few temporary hires for the summer for the maintenance department.
The board will be voting to approve the curriculum for fine arts and career and technical education.
The board will also be voting on an agreement for the district’s Support Personnel Negotiated Agreement for the years 2019-2022.
The board will also be voting to approve the sale or disposal of some items the district no longer needs.
Activities Director, Jaime Cabral, will be giving the board an overview of parent committee goals for the Indian Education.
And the school board will hear about updates to the state’s 2019 special education handbook, from Special Education Director, Bridget Wittstock. The school board will be voting on adopting the changes.
To start the meeting off there will be a student presentation on marine plastics. Volunteers with Petersburg’s Plastics Group have been coming to the grade school over the past year to teach students about the issue.
Here is the full agenda.
The school board meets Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the middle and high school library. KFSK will broadcast it live. Also, tune in to Campus Connection, a call in show with school board officials at 12:30 Tuesday just after the midday newscast.
