Around 20 Petersburg residents got together at Buschmann Park Wednesday night to mark the impeachment of President Trump. He is the third president in U.S. history to be impeached by the House of Representatives. Alaska’s Congressman, Don Young, voted NO to impeachment along with all other Republicans.
The Petersburg group Wednesday night committed to reaching out to Alaska’s U.S. Senators Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan, both Republicans, “to do their jobs in the Senate as impartial jurors in a full hearing.”
Chelsea Tremblay, one of the participants, said, “I was relieved to see the President face any semblance of consequences for the many actions I consider to be impeachable. The way he conducts himself in office threatens the foundations of our democracy. Today was a chance for the constitution to protect the republic.”
