Petersburg High School’s varsity volleyball team is scheduled to play in the regional tournament this weekend in Craig. The Vikings finished up the regular season last weekend with a home-and-away series against Wrangell, after beating Klawock and losing to Craig the weekend before. That means Petersburg is the second seed at the regional tournament this weekend. That competition will also be the last high school sporting event of this calendar year. Joe Viechnicki spoke with head coach Jaime Cabral about his team’s final regular season games.
The Alaska School Activities Association decided that fall sports have to be finished by Sunday, November 22. That means the regional tournament will be contested all in one day in Craig this Saturday and there’s no state tournament.
