A short film showcasing natural art at Petersburg’s Rainforest Festival this year has been recognized with an award for short films, television and new media. The video called “Ephemeral” was produced by Petersburg filmmaker Kelly Bakos around the festival’s art show this pandemic year. It won an award of merit in the Best Shorts Competition.
Artists in September created works from natural materials that lasted, for the most part, only a short time. The film includes interviews with the artists and shows the works as they’re created, then changed and wiped out by time and the elements. It’s not the first award for Bakos and her production company Faune Voyage.
Joe Viechnicki spoke with the filmmaker about the honor.
That film was shown during Petersburg’s Rainforest Festival. Bakos says it’s going to made available for viewing in 2021.
