The most decorated track and field athlete from Petersburg High School is wrapping up a very successful college career this week.
22-year-old Izabelle Ith is a senior at Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts and before graduation Monday she’ll be competing in her fourth division three national championship meet.
She’s racked up accomplishments in her four years at Williams with top finishes in multiple events in regional and conference championships. She placed sixth in the indoor long jump in the NCAAs in 2018 and 21st in the outdoor 100 hurdles that year. In 2019 she took 13th in the heptathlon, a combination of seven events. She’s qualified again this year for the long jump and the heptathlon but says she decided to focus just on the long jump this week in North Carolina. Joe Viechnicki spoke with Ith about her final meet and a four-year career.
The division three national championships are May 27-29th in Greensboro, North Carolina. Ith competes on Thursday, May 27. She graduates from Williams on Monday, May 31st. After college she’ll start work as a research assistant at Boston Children’s Hospital.
