Petersburg’s movie theater is reopening this weekend after being closed for over a year.
The Northern Nights Theater closed last March when the COVID pandemic began. This weekend it will reopen with the Disney movie Cruella, which is based on the character from the 101 Dalmatian movie. It will have show times this weekend and next weekend.
Northern Nights Theater is a non-profit business run by middle and high school students with a few adult volunteers helping out. Typically, it employs between six and eight students at a time. The theater mostly focuses on films rated G to PG-13. Cruella is rated PG-13.
Cyndy Fry is the theater manager. She spoke with KFSK’s Angela Denning about the reopening.
Fry says theater staff will do a full cleaning after every showing and have sanitizer available for the public to use.
