Petersburg’s violence prevention and advocacy organization has a new director. Sklyer DuPont has actually been working remotely for WAVE since this summer, but only arrived in Petersburg a couple weeks ago after months of searching for a place to live.
DuPont identifies as non-binary and uses the pronouns they/them. They are originally from the East Coast, with a degree from Columbia University in clinical social work. They spent the last year in Anchorage, finishing their degree with an agency that does homeless prevention work for LGBTQ+ youth. While there, a client mentioned the WAVE job posting. Dupont says a quick look at Google maps was enough to pique their curiosity.
