Petersburg’s varsity volleyball team competed against seven other teams, including Wrangell, Metlakatla, and Haines, during the regional tournament in Craig last weekend. The team won three out of five matches, coming in third.

Petersburg’s coach, Jaime Cabral, says that’s a huge win for the team. He told KFSK’s Hannah Flor that this is the first year a lot of the kids on the team are playing varsity.

The Vikings beat Craig twice, and won against Skagway. But they lost to Wrangell, and they lost their final match to what Cabral called the “very experienced” Metlakatla team.

Regional coaches voted senior Iris Case an all-conference player, one of twelve in the region.
