Petersburg has a new district ranger. The U.S. Forest Service hired Carey Case earlier this month after she spent four months unofficially in the role.
Before that Case worked remotely for the Chugach National Forest in South Central Alaska as an Environmental Coordinator.
She first came to Petersburg in the late 90s as a seasonal worker for the agency.
She’s been working with the Forest Service ever since, eventually moving to Petersburg full time, starting a family, and spending her free time as an avid photographer. But as she told KFSK’s Hannah Flor, her career with the agency started way back when she was a college student in Washington state.
