Tonight, Petersburg’s borough assembly is scheduled to consider a few property-related items on the agenda.
Assembly members will decide whether or not the borough will renew a lease agreement with Birchell Properties for another few years. The original lease for the tidelands property dates back to 1985. If renewed, the lease would continue through 2030. The renewal happens every five years, adjusting rent according to the assessed value. This time, the annual rate would be $5,340.
The assembly will consider two other land issues.
They will vote on a resolution to remove part of Ramona Street from the public right-of-way. That portion of Ramona Street would be given to adjacent property owners. It’s part of a plan to ultimately house the future Pump Station 4 site and its utilities in the area. The assembly previously approved a similar move, but according to the resolution, property agreements complicated things.
The other item of business is a request to rezone a lot on Sandy Beach Road from rural residential to single-family residential. The change would make the property’s zoning more consistent with other residential lots in the area. Assembly member Bob Lynn is requesting the assembly to have the planning commission start the process.
The Petersburg Borough Assembly will meet tonight, March 17, at 6 o’clock in the assembly chambers. KFSK will broadcast that meeting live.
